What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
1. Our 2nd grade Halloween party will be hold on next Tuesday, 10/31 morning from 10:15 to 11:15 am. Thanks in advance for those who are coming to help and donating cookies.
2. Because of Halloween party and think of kids will be going out for trick-or-treat on Tuesday, we will not have a new math lesson on Tuesday. That is, we will not have English math homework on Tuesday. Also, students will be able to earn themselves time to complete their Chinese homework in school.
3. Just a reminder that our daily English math homework is a way for you to see if your student got the concept I’ve taught the same day. Please take your time to help and check on your kid’s English math homework daily. Thanks.
4. Quizizz game for unit 5-3 is on. The code is 634800. Here’s how: a). Open https://join.quizizz.com in your browser b) Enter the 6-digit game code, and click "Proceed" c) Now enter your student's name and click "Join Game!" d) You will get an avatar, and then see a "Start Game" button. Click it to begin! I will check students’ performance daily so make sure your student enter their name instead of random words. You can do this on your phone or computer.
5. Our Unit 5-2 Quizizz game is still on if your kid wants to play. The code is 295668.
6. Weekly Chinese writing test will be on Friday, 11/03. It’s the same as Thursday’s homework.
7. Make sure you have your kid to practice stroke order on our class website at least 1 word a day. You can do it on your phone, tablet, or computer for like one minute or 2 per word. It’s fun that kids love it 8. Our Chinese morning announcement students will be XXX and XXX from Red class.
8. Please visit our class website regularly so you can keep on the same page with us. Also, I’d like our kids to write Chinese writing homework with the stroke order on our class website at least once or twice a week if you can’t do it every day. I upload pictures and videos on our class website almost every day. I encourage you to ask your kid what we were doing in the picture which you would know if your kid knows the purpose and content we were learning in Chinese classroom. Chinese homework stroke Order, definition, and handwriting practice
- Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. Then click on the brush under the word, then you will be able to practice handwriting the character(see the videos below for an example). I really love this function and hope our kids can use it.
Monday:

- Book 5-3 sentence writing: The teacher show pictures and tell them what the sentence would be. Then student write down the sentence they hear. The teacher then show the correct writing to them to see if they got right.
Math:
- Self-start: adding more than two 2-digit numbers fact practice
- Topic 4-6: Practice adding
- I have who has game (2-digit addition): The teacher passes out a card (or 2) to each student. The "starter" card begins by reading their card. Students solve the problems to figure out if they have the next card. The next student then says "I have __. Who has __?" The game continues until the last card is read. Students complete the game with in 4 minutes. :) (My phone was out of battery so I didn't record the entire game for Blue class. :()
