Week 18 (12/18 - 12/20)
Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning BLUE Class; Afternoon RED Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
1. Only 3 days of school this week. School ends at 12:30 pm on Wednesday as regular schedule.
2. Grade-level Christmas party will be from 11:30 to 12:30 pm on Wednesday. We still need few more parent volunteers to come and help with the party. I can use about 3 volunteers in my room for cookie decoration and Mrs. Hansen would like to have few volunteers as well. Thanks to parents who brought some frosting, sparkling, zip bags, and more stuff that we can use for the party. We do appreciate your thoughtful and kindness.
3. I would set up a Pearson Realize math online class for students to log in and practice. However, we had some tech issue so I wouldn’t be able to set up passwords for student accounts. We have been working on the issue and hopefully we can have all set by time for students to practice during winter break. I’ll sent home both hard copy and email instruction to you all once the issue get solved.
4. Since it’s a short week with lot of events going on (party, assemble, ENCORE rotation), I will be short of time teaching Chinese literacy as I usually do, so I need your help to help your kid at home. Please log in to your kid’s Mandarin Matrix account and have your kid to read through book 8-1 小狗去学校(The little dog goes to school.) and to do all practice and tests this week. I’ll check students’ score during winter break. Log in here: www.mandarinmatrix.com Let me know if you have any problem logging to your kid’s account.
5. Quizizz games codes are here: unit 8-1: 709228; unit 7-3: 057844 ; unit 7-2: 991362 ; unit 7-1: 453688. Here’s how: a). Open https://join.quizizz.com in your browser b) Enter the 6-digit game code, and click "Proceed" c) Now enter your student's name and click "Join Game!" d) You will get an avatar, and then see a "Start Game" button. Click it to begin! I will check students’ performance daily so make sure your student enter their name instead of random words. You can do this on your phone or computer. Students, whoever got higher score than I did on Quizizz, will get a lollipop or 3 stickers.
6. Our Chinese morning announcement students will be Alex and Braxton from Blue class.
7. If you haven’t yet, you can subscribe to my Youtube channel so you don’t miss any student videos I’ve posted. I love watching these videos and I bet you will do the same. No worries! I don’t post any other videos besides students’ performance in class. 😊 Subscribe here: https://www.youtube.com/user/HYH0706/videos?shelf_id=0&view=0&sort=dd
8. Please visit our class website regularly so you can keep on the same page with us. Also, I’d like our kids to write Chinese writing homework with the stroke order on our class website at least once or twice a week if you can’t do it every day. I upload pictures and videos on our class website nearly every day. I encourage you to ask your kid what we were doing in the picture which you would know if your kid knows the purpose and content we were learning in Chinese classroom.
