Week 26 (02/20 - 02/23)
Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning BLUE Class; Afternoon RED Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
1. BIG thanks to those parents who came and help on our field trip day and thanks to those who bought our kids cookies and came to help on our Valentine’s party. We are so lucky to have supportive parents like you.
2. We will finish math unit 11 on next Monday so we plan to have our math test on Tuesday. You can log in to your kid’s Pearson math online class for math videos and unit 11 practice and mock test. Our math teaching pace will be 11-4 on Tuesday; 11-5 on Thursday; and 11-6 on Friday. Log in here: http://tinyurl.com/tcsd-pearsonrealize
3. As I mentioned in my email yesterday, I submitted a project asking for some Chinese books for our kids on Donors Choose. Thank you, Debbie, for your kindness and willingness to help our kids. I know some of you may love to donate as well, but guess what! My project is fully funded. That is, we will have some Chinese books coming to my classroom for our kids to read within few weeks. I am excited. Big thanks to Tooele Title Company & Tooele Plumbing Services. I don’t know who they are but if you do, please say thanks to them for me and our kids.
4. Quizizz game codes: YCT test 2: 363070; Unit 10-3: 833864 ; Unit 10-2: 992516; 10-1: 002345. Here’s how: a). Open https://join.quizizz.com in your browser b) Enter the 6-digit game code, and click "Proceed" c) Now enter your student's name and click "Join Game!" d) You will get an avatar, and then see a "Start Game" button. Click it to begin! Students, whoever got higher score than I did on Quizizz, will get a lollipop or 3 stickers.
5. We will start to do YCT (Youth Chinese Test) level 2 test from this Thursday. Thus, we will have YCT test on Thursdays and weekly writing test on Fridays. Many vocabularies on YCT level 2 are new to our kids and we are just learning them, so don’t be panic if your kids didn’t get good score on “reading” on our YCT test. They will get on tract very soon.
6. For just in case you didn’t know that you can have your kid record their voice on our Chinese online class (Mandarin Matrix) and I can listen to their record on my end. Be sure you take the advantage on our Chinese online class. Our kids are on lesson 10 so you can have them to practice these 3 books there. Link here: www.mandarinmatrix.com
7. Chinese morning announcement students will be Mason M. and Sophi from Blue class.
10. Here’s my Youtube account for our students’ videos if you haven’t subscribe yet: https://www.youtube.com/user/HYH0706/videos?view=0&shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view_as=subscriber
8. Be sure you visit our class website and have your kid practice stroke order at least 2 words a day. Our class website provides many information you will need including homework download (Chinese and math), Chinese homework writing stroke order, translation, as well as our class pictures and videos. I encourage you to ask your kid what we were doing in the picture which you would know if your kid knows the purpose and content we were learning in Chinese classroom. 9. I personally love our Tooele public library and I hope you find that they have many events for our kids and parents too. If you are interested, they will have movie “Coco” on Match 7, Wednesday, from 1 pm to 2:45 pm. This is for age 5 -12 so bring your kids to enjoy Coco movie. I watched this movie and love it. Check out their FB page to see more upcoming events. https://www.facebook.com/events/222274804987032/

Chinese homework stroke Order, definition, and handwriting practice
Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. Then click on the brush under the word, then you will be able to practice handwriting the character(see the videos below for an example). I really love this function and hope our kids can use it.
