Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning RED Class; Afternoon BLUE Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
1. Monday, 09/05, Labor Day. No School.
2. Please take few minutes to look at the math worksheet your kid bring home. I sometimes make comments on their sheets. Students will take it more serious if you look at the sheet every time they bring theirs home. I always value it more when a kid can correct their mistakes than he/she can get 100%.
3. We will have a Chinese and a math test on Friday, 09/09. Chinese test will be exactly the same as Thursday's homework. Make sure you help your kid practice them at home. Do not forget to get help from our class website. Math test will be in English and taken in Mrs. Hansen's classroom.
4. I still need help on sorting math worksheets. Thanks for those who came helping last week. We are on our half way completing them.
5. We have few students didn’t do their homework last week. I’ll try to have these students who didn’t do their homework to complete theirs during recess but I can’t do so every day for several reasons. Therefore, I need your help to check your kid’s backpack to see if they complete their homework and put them in their backpacks.
6. Encore (PE/Library/Computer/Art rotation) starts this week. It will be at every Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 to 2:30.

Chinese homework stroke Order, definition, and handwriting practice
Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. - Calendar Time: What day/date is today/yesterday/tomorrow/the day before yesterday/the day after tomorrow. And how many days we are in school.
- Game: Distinguish "huang gua" (cucumber), "xi gua" (watermelon), and "nan gua" (pumpkin). I showed a video of cats scared by cucumbers (as shown below). And I have students to pretend they were cats. When they heard me saying huang gua" (cucumber), they would need to jump high as the cats in the video did. When I say "xi gua" (watermelon) or "nan gua" (pumpkin), they should not jump. They were having fun.
- Both class completed topic 1 review.
- Game: I hide math sentence cards around the classroom and students need to find them all and write down answers.
