Week 4 (09/11 - 09/15)
Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning BLUE Class; Afternoon RED Class;
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
1. I want to do a short survey about how long does your kid spend on doing his/her homework (Chinese writing and English math; not including reading time). Would you please reply my email and let me know. Thank you.
2. We’ll complete math topic one this Friday and we will have math topic 1 test on next Monday, Sept. 18. Make sure you read questions on our English math homework for your kid to help them. Our English math homework is the same topic as we learned in Chinese classroom the same day.
3. Please remind your kid to look at me while I am teaching. It’s nearly impossible for our kids to understand me speaking in another language if they don’t look at me. I care this point a lot so I think it would be good for our parents to remind their kids at home as well. Thanks.
4. Our Chinese morning announcement students will be Landon A. and Calvin from Blue class.
5. Please visit our class website regularly so you can keep on the same page with us. I will start to upload pictures and videos this week. I encourage you to ask your kid what we were doing in the picture which you would know if your kid knows the purpose and content we were learning in Chinese classroom. Visit our class website for week 4 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-4-0911---0915.html ; and visit what students have learned from week 3 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-3-0904---0908.html

Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. - Preview book 3 vocabulary: Students had difficulty understanding word "跟“ (and/with) so I have a student to go with me walking around the classroom while saying "跟我来“ (fellow me/ come with me). And then I have another student to follow after (go with) us. And then another student...and so on until entire class is walking in the room. We had a good time walking and singing for even just one minute. Some students can understand what "跟” means after this short walking. I love students learning and having fun at the same time.
