Week 5 (09/17-09/21)
Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning RED Class; Afternoon BLUE Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
Monday: Chinese morning announcement: I randomly pick two students, normally one girl and one boy, from my morning class each week to do the announcement. This week will be Dax and Melanie in Red class. Please make sure they arrive my classroom at 8:55 am.
Monday: Math topic 1 test (We switched the testing date from last Friday to this Monday as some modifies were needed. Thanks for understanding.)
Friday: 1. Chinese weekly writing test. 2. Midterm of first term
Others:
1. I still need parent volunteers to come and help sorting math worksheets. We have total of 15 topics and we started sorting topic 4 as of Friday.
2. IMPORTANT: Our 2nd grade Chinese DLI class parent teacher conference will be hold on Tuesday, 9/25, and Wednesday, 9/26. Please note the date is different from all other classes in school. Make sure you reply the note sent home last Thursday if you didn’t sign up online. Let me know if you have any questions or concern.
3. Please have your kid to play this Quizizz game: Code for Unit 1-1: 119489. Here’s how: a). Open https://join.quizizz.com in your browser b) Enter the 6-digit game code, and click "Proceed" c) Now enter your student's name and click "Join Game!" d) You will get an avatar, and then see a "Start Game" button. Click it to begin! I played and students whoever gets higher score than I did, s/he will get a sticker. No worries! I intentionally play it in middle score so it should not be difficult to get higher score than mine.
4. Week 4 Friday reading help video here: https://youtu.be/DjriuxbXrOU (you can also find this video in our class website, too.)
5. Be sure you visit our class website and have your kid practice stroke order at least 2 words a day. Our class website provides many information you will need including homework download (Chinese and math), Chinese homework writing stroke order, translation, as well as our class pictures and videos. I encourage you to ask your kid what we were doing in the picture which you would know if your kid knows the purpose and content we were learning in Chinese classroom. Visit our class website for week 5 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-5-0917-ndash-0921.html and visit what students have learned from week 4 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-4-0910-ndash-0914.html
6. Please remind your kid to look at me while I am teaching. It’s nearly impossible for our kids to understand me speaking in another language if they don’t look at me. I care this point a lot so I think it would be good for our parents to remind their kids at home as well. Thanks.

Chinese homework stroke Order, definition, and handwriting practice

|
Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. Then click on the brush under the word, then you will be able to practice handwriting the character(see the videos below for an example). I really love this function and hope our kids can use it.
