Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning RED Class; Afternoon BLUE Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
- Thanks to those parents who came in to our classroom helping our math worksheet sorting. We are all done now! YAY!
- We will have our students doing Chinese Announcement to the entire school in the morning. I will randomly select two students (ideally one boy and one girl so the voice can be recognized easier) each week. These two students will need to do Chinese announcement for one week and they will each receive a small prize from principal. The two students who will do the Chinese announcement this week are Belle M. and Braydon N. in Red class. I will need these two students arriving at my classroom few minutes before school starts so we can do a little practice, especially Monday.
- As always, students have a Chinese test on Friday, 09/23. Chinese test will be exactly the same as Thursday's homework. Make sure you help your kid practice them at home.
- Be sure you have your student writing their Chinese homework with our website help (stroke order and more). Also, don't forget to visit our class website for students' pictures and videos. ^_^ The link is here for just in case: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-5-0919-0923.html
- If you plan to have your kid be absent from school, I would love to know in advance or on the day. I love all our kids and would love to know why our students are absent. Thank you so much.

Chinese homework stroke Order, definition, and handwriting practice
Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. Aquarium Program: 55 minutes for each class for all 2nd grade students. Topic: Rainforest. People from the Aquarium brought some rainforest animals for students to see and touch. It's a great educational program. (12:20 pm to 1:15 pm Red class; 1:15 pm to 2:10 pm Blue class)

- 2nd grade music from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
- Calendar time: I bring " 1 more" (+1) and "1 less" (-1) into our calendar time. Students would get concept of why it was 20th and today is 21st.
- Sentence practice: 这是什么? 这是XXX. XXX 喜欢吃什么? XXX 喜欢吃 XXX (What is this? This is XXX。 What does XXX like to eat? XXX like to eat XXX.). These are sentences from yesterday but we make it long. Students are practicing together. Didn't get time to practice in pair but would do that tomorrow.

- I took a video of the rain and hail from my classroom this afternoon when students were going home.

09/23 (Friday)
- After self start, some students spontaneously sit on carpet and did the Q & A game. One student pretend that she/he is the teacher and ask students on the carpet "what does XXX like to eat?" and students answered "XXX likes to eat XXX." and then they took turn to be a teacher. I noticed that they know they need to behave good to be picked as the next teacher. I am so happy to see that students are spontaneously play learning game and they know rules. :)
- Week 5 Chinese test
- Activity: Where is the XXX. I randomly pick a vocabulary card and hide it at back of one of the vocabulary cards. Students will sing a song "where is the XXX" and the student got picked will need to say "I guess the XXX is at back of XXX." It's a game for students to practice recognize and say vocabulary.
- Red class: Topic 2 review
- Blue class: Topic 3-1
- math topic 2 test in English at Mrs. Hansen's room.
