Week 6 (09/24-09/28)
Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning BLUE Class; Afternoon RED Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
Monday: 1. Math topic 2 test. 2. Chinese morning announcement: William and Leah in Blue class. Please make sure they arrive my classroom at 8:55 am.
Tuesday: Parent-teacher conference 9 am to 8 pm in the conference room. Please take your kid with you to the meeting.
Wednesday: Parent-teacher conference 2 pm to 5 pm in Mrs. Hansen’s room (#9). Please take your kid with you to the meeting.
Thursday: I will an appointment in the SLC, a guest teacher will take care of our students.
Friday: 1. Chinese weekly writing test. 2. Spin day 3. Reward Assembly (only those who turn in their daily homework and on good behavior can attend.) 4. No math homework today as I will review topic 3-2 and 3-3. No new math lesson today.
Others:
1. I really need parent volunteers to come and help sorting math worksheets. We have total of 15 topics and we are still on topic 4 as of Friday.
2. Please have your kid to play this Quizizz game: Code for Unit 1-2: 658182 ; 1-1: 119489. Here’s how: a). Open https://join.quizizz.com in your browser b) Enter the 6-digit game code, and click "Proceed" c) Now enter your student's name and click "Join Game!" d) You will get an avatar, and then see a "Start Game" button. Click it to begin! I played and students whoever gets higher score than I did, s/he will get a sticker. No worries! I intentionally play it in middle score so it should not be difficult to get higher score than mine.
3. Week 5 Friday reading help video here: https://youtu.be/7_Q337uCENY (you can also find this video in our class website, too.)
4. Be sure you visit our class website and have your kid practice stroke order at least 2 words a day. Our class website provides many information you will need including homework download (Chinese and math), Chinese homework writing stroke order, translation, as well as our class pictures and videos. I encourage you to ask your kid what we were doing in the picture which you would know if your kid knows the purpose and content we were learning in Chinese classroom. Visit our class website for week 6 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-6-0924-ndash-0928.html and visit what students have learned from week 5 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-5-0917-ndash-0921.html
5. Please remind your kid to look at me while I am teaching. It’s nearly impossible for our kids to understand me speaking in another language if they don’t look at me. I care this point a lot so I think it would be good for our parents to remind their kids at home as well. Thanks.

|
Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. Then click on the brush under the word, then you will be able to practice handwriting the character(see the videos below for an example). I really love this function and hope our kids can use it.
