What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
- Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Program: We are having the program this school year (if I remember it right). That means our students will get fresh fruit or vegetables about twice to three times a week. We have students to try these fruit or vegetables in class. I believe this is a great program for our students and also we can learn some names of fruit and vegetables in Chinese. - Top Box 4 education race: If you have top box 4 education, please have your kids bring them to school. Students in Blue class, please give yours to Mrs. Hansen; and students in Red class, please give yours to me. J Thank you for helping our school.
- We are having a DLI night at Oct. 17. It’s not just for Chinese language but for all languages in Tooele County School District. We hope all you can come and participant. Also, I need some students to “show off” their language proficiency. We have about 15 minutes time for performance. Note that you will need to drive your kids there and back. No transportation is provided from school or district at the night. I believe the location is in Tooele. I will give your more detail information next week. I just can’t find it now. Let me know if you want your kids to perform at that night. More details is coming next week. Thanks.
- This week’s Chinese announcement is Leah and Dominque in Blue class. Please make sure they arrive school few minutes before school starts as the announcement begins at the first minute when it is 9 am.
- Again and most important, please make sure you have your students follow the stroke order when they are writing their Chinese homework. Chinese homework stroke Order, definition, and handwriting practice
Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. - Activity: Through a ball Q & A: A student through a ball and ask a question. The student who catch the ball will need to answer the question and then ask another question to next person.
- Activity: Where is the XXX. The teacher hide a vocabulary card behind one of the vocabulary cards and have students to guess where is the card. Before guessing, students will sing "where is the XXX" song and when students want to guess, they will need to say "I guess the XXX is behind XXX." (XXX are all vocabulary terms.).
- "what I want to eat" Listening computer game (independent): Students can play computer game when they complete their work early.
- Blue class complete topic 3-2 and Red class complete 3-1
- Activity (red class): A student come out as a "little teacher" and pick pop sticks with students' number on it. The little teacher will need to say "one/two/three more" or "one/two/three less" and the student who got picked will need to answer the question by his/her number. For example, when we pick a student number 20 and the little teacher says "two less," then the student got picked will need to do mental math "20-2" and answer "18."

- No second recess for 2nd graders today as the playground mulch re-filling was going on (see picture below).

- Writing: The teacher showed pictures and students writing down vocabulary and sentences on their small white board. Those who got answer right can be picked to write their answers on big white board.
- Speaking: We watched a video about a dog goes to school and he has some undesired behavior. Students talk to a partner what they saw in the video. They can almost picked out all undesired behavior in the video. After they share with their partner, some students were coming up to share what they saw.
- Activity (Red class only) : 大风吹 (big wind blow): This activity is practicing students' speaking and listening skill (and exciting at the same time).
- Blue class complete topic 3-4 and Red class complete 3-3.
