Week 8 (10/10 - 10/14)
Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning BLUE Class; Afternoon RED Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
First of all, I am sorry that I have been sick and missed most of days in school last week. I am still not fully recovered but will NOT be absent from school this week. We will catch up what we’ve missed this week.
1. We didn’t have a test last Thursday because I was sick home. However, students are having Chinese test as usually on Friday. Note that I won’t have an English reminder on Thursday’s homework as I want to keep our Chinese homework for no English, but what students will be tested on Friday would be the same as Thursday’s homework. Please remind your kids to practice them with our class website’s help.
2. New Quizizz game for Unit 6 book 2 and book 3 is coming. If your kids didn’t play Unit 6 book 1 (不可以玩雪) yet, make sure they play it. Please note that your kids can play the same game more than once with the same name. I can see how your kids’ progressing on my end. Isn’t that cool? Here’s how to play: a). Open http://join.quizizz.com in your browser. b). Enter the 6-digit game code 264336 for book 1 and game code 761230 for book 2 & 3, and click "Proceed" c). Now enter your student's name and click "Join Game!" d). You will get an avatar, and then see a "Start Game" button. Click it to begin! ).
3. As I was sick last week and I almost slept over the week, I didn’t get a chance to organize the log-in names and passwords for Mandarin Matrix online accounts, but I will do it as soon as I can and will send note home. Please keep an eye on your kid’s homework folder.
4. A reminder, please help your kid to correct any questions your kid got wrong on their math worksheet. Since my children were in elementary school, I valued what they got wrong on worksheets and tests very much as I knew they would gain even more to know why they got it wrong and how to correct them. Believe me, it is worth your time to do it with your kids.
5. Students of weekly Chinese announcement to school will be Camden & Brayden C. from Blue class. Please make sure they arrive at class at 8:55 am so we can practice, especially on Monday. Thanks.

Chinese homework stroke Order, definition, and handwriting practice
Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. Then click on the brush under the word, then you will be able to practice handwriting the character. I really love this function and hope our kids can use it.

What students have done in Chinese class this week:
10/10 (Monday)
Chinese:
Chinese:
- Reading and picture walk: Unit 6 Book 1 不可以玩雪
- Activity: Students write down sentence 外面有没有下雪?word by word on cards. Students were asked to mix them and put them back in order. Then 3-4 students in a group, they mix all their cards together and play "heart attack" game. They will need to repeat the sentence 外面有没有下雪 while playing the game.
- Both class completed topic 3-6.
- Activity: I write down some students' name (in English) and count how many letters each name have and put a sticky note next by the name. I then ask students to add all numbers up. It was hard for students as there are more than 10 numbers on white board. I then ask students how they do their math. Most students just add up from the first one to the last one but we did get some good ideas. 1. Put all numbers the same together. 2. Put "make 10" friends together and then add them up. We will keep doing this and see if more ways students can find out to solve the problem and make it more organized. ^_^

- Red class completed topic 4-1.
10/13 (Thursday)
