Week 8 (10/09 - 10/13)
Who's in Mrs. Huang's classroom this week: Morning BLUE Class; Afternoon RED Class.
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
1. We are almost done sorting our math books. We are 3 topics away from completing. If you have time this week, feel free to come and help any time on your convenience. I’ll send out an email once we complete sorting them.
2. This is the first year we are using this new version of math book which includes lot of story-problems and higher order thinking skills over lessons including topic tests. We’ve done two topic tests so far and most of our students are doing good. However, I noticed that few students’ math test scores were surprising me. Some students they did good on daily lesson in class but didn’t get as high scores as I expected they should. I assume that they still not comfortable with story-problems. I need parents’ help on your kid’s homework to get them familiar with store-problem questions. Please take few minutes to read the questions for your kid while they are doing math homework. Thank you for working with us together to make our kids the best.
3. We have Chinese weekly writing tests on Fridays. The test will be exactly the same as Thursday’s homework so make sure your students follow the stroke order writing Thursday’s Chinese homework to be ready for the test. Thanks.
4. Our Chinese morning announcement students will be Alonzo and Sophi from Blue class.
5. Please visit our class website regularly so you can keep on the same page with us. Also, I’d like our kids to write Chinese writing homework with the strake order on our class website at least once or twice a week, if you can’t do it every day. I have uploaded pictures and videos on our class website almost every day. I encourage you to ask your kid what we were doing in the picture which you would know if your kid knows the purpose and content we were learning in Chinese classroom. Visit our class website for week 8 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-8-1009-1013.html and visit what students have learned from week 7 here: http://2ndchinesedli.weebly.com/week-7-1002---1006.html
