Week 5 (09/16-09/20)
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
Monday: Picture Day
Tuesday:
Wednesday: Math topic 2 test; Counselor lesson (10-20 minutes; once a month)
Thursday: Math topic 2 test
Friday: Chinese weekly writing test
Others:
1. Parent volunteers needed: First I want to thank you all who came and help. I still need parent volunteers to come and help with sorting math worksheets. We are almost there!
2. I will send home information about Mandarin Matrix computer account next Monday. Please keep an eye on your child’s folder for the information. Thanks to the district, all DLI students can have their own account for free. Please use it as much as you can.
3. I have all disclosure and pictures/videos permission. Thank you
4. Just a reminder that please do the math homework with your child daily (besides Friday). As most of you may know, I am the teacher who mainly teaches math in Chinese and Ms. McRae helps to reinforce the concept. Your child’s daily math homework is totally the same concept/topic I am teaching the day in school. It is a great way for you to check on your child’s understanding as I teach in Chinese and there may be some language barrier. It does require patient and perseverance to do it every day but it will pay off in your child’s academic future.
5. Friday reading help video here: https://youtu.be/DjriuxbXrOU
6. Remember that Picture Day is 09-16-2019, Monday. Check your child’s folder for the notification.
7. I will be gone on Wednesday for a professional learning. We will have an excellent guest teacher help on our students’ learning.
8. Please remind your kid to look at me while I am teaching. It’s nearly impossible for our kids to understand speaking in another language if they don’t look at me. I care about this point a lot so I think it would be good for our parents to remind their kids at home as well. Thanks.
9. Daily Chinese writing stroke order, definition, handwriting practice, homework download, class videos, and pictures here:

Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. Then click on the brush under the word, then you will be able to practice handwriting the character(see the videos below for an example). I really love this function and hope our kids can use it.
