Week 4 (09/09-09/13)
What Mrs. Huang wants to say to you:
Quick look at next week!
Monday: Encore (computer, art, library, and PE rotation) starts;
Tuesday: Math topic 1 test
Wednesday: Math topic 1 test
Thursday:
Friday: Chinese weekly writing test (same as Thursday’s Chinese homework).
Others:
1. Parent volunteers needed: First I want to thank you all who came and help. I still need parent volunteers to come and help with sorting math worksheets. We are halfway done! Yay!
2. I started to upload pictures and videos on our class website. I lost some pictures but I will upload as many as I have on my phone. There are some good ones. Come and check out! Feel free to download your child’s pictures/videos. If you have signed the permission and disclosure yet, you may want to do it now as I won’t upload any pictures/videos of your child until I have permission on paper.
3. Just a reminder that please do the math homework with your child daily (besides Friday). As most of you may know, I am the teacher who mainly teaches math in Chinese and Ms. McRae helps to reinforce the concept. Your child’s daily math homework is totally the same concept/topic I am teaching the day in school. It is a great way for you to check on your child’s understanding as I teach in Chinese and there may be some language barrier. It does require patient and perseverance to do it every day but it will pay off in your child’s academic future.
4. Friday reading help video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zET_F2DOyw
5. For Friday’s homework, it is a reading assignment that your child read it to you and you sign after you hear them reading.
6. Encore (computer, art, library, and PE rotation) starts this Monday. Students will be rotated in these 4 subjects half-hour each on Monday from 1 pm to 3 pm.
7. Just a heads up, Picture Day will be 09-16-2019, Monday. Check your child’s folder for the notification.
8. Please remind your kid to look at me while I am teaching. It’s nearly impossible for our kids to understand speaking in another language if they don’t look at me. I care about this point a lot so I think it would be good for our parents to remind their kids at home as well. Thanks.
9. Daily Chinese writing stroke order, definition, handwriting practice, homework download, class videos, and pictures here:

Please follow the stroke order while your kid is writing Chinese homework. Click on each word for stroke order and other information about the character. To go to the handwriting practice function, please click on each character below, and it will open a new window. Then click on the brush under the word, then you will be able to practice handwriting the character(see the videos below for an example). I really love this function and hope our kids can use it.
